Privacy Policy
Last updated May 1, 2026. A short and honest account of what data this site collects.
OperaPedia is a server-rendered editorial encyclopedia. The site does not run client-side JavaScript trackers, does not embed third-party analytics scripts, and does not place advertising or marketing cookies. This page sets out the small amount of data the site does process, and why.
Server Access Logs
Like every web server on the public internet, the server hosting OperaPedia receives, and briefly retains, an HTTP access log entry for each request. A log line records the requested URL, the HTTP status code returned, the requesting IP address, the user agent string, and the timestamp. We retain these logs for operational purposes · diagnosing errors, identifying abusive traffic, and capacity planning · for no longer than thirty days, after which they are deleted on a rolling basis.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, PHPSESSID, only if a session is initiated by a server-side feature. The cookie carries no profile information about you, is not shared with any third party, and is discarded when you close your browser. No advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies are set.
Search Queries
The on-site search form submits your query to the same server that renders the rest of the site, and the query is processed only to return a results page. Search queries are recorded in the standard access log described above and are not aggregated, profiled, or sold.
Third-Party Resources
The site loads typography from Google Fonts and includes illustrations served by the Wikimedia Commons CDN. When your browser fetches those resources, the relevant third party will see your IP address as part of the normal HTTP request. The site does not share any further information with those services. Images are served directly by Wikimedia and are not modified, fingerprinted, or proxied through OperaPedia.
Email Correspondence
If you write to the editorial address, we retain your message and any factual material it contains for the period required to act on it, and we do not add your address to any mailing list. We do not operate a newsletter or marketing programme.
Children
OperaPedia is a reference encyclopedia of classical opera and is appropriate for general readership. It does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from any reader, including children.
